[Go Direct to Egypt Portfolio]
The home of the last remaining wonder of the world, Egypt was the first stop on my very first trip, and also one of the first places I returned to as a budding photographer.
For myself, my girlfriend, and many others who have visited Egypt, it can be somewhat of a love/hate relationship. On first arrival, the hustle and bustle, the noise, the smells, the constant hard sells, the pleads for baksheesh are an adrenalin pumping source of wonder and culture shock, where just crossing the road can be an experience in itself.
After a while though, very same things can start to grate, the joking banter turning into a stern ‘la shukran’, and a bad tempered ‘imshee’ boiling below the surface.
But then, not long after returning home, the annoyances fade into the background and an itch for all the noise and market games comes flooding back.
